Congressman Anthony Weiner Endorses Jimmy Van Bramer for City Council
Popular Democratic Congressman supports Democratic nominee
SUNNYSIDE, QUEENS, September 30, 2009 – U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-9th District) has endorsed Democrat Jimmy Van Bramer for City Council in the 26th District of Western Queens.
First elected to Congress in 1998, Congressman Weiner currently sits on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, overseeing telecommunications, public health, air quality and environmental protection, the nation's energy policy, and interstate and foreign commerce. He also serves on the Judiciary Committee and as a part of the influential Democratic leadership team. He began his career in elective office as a member of the New York City Council.
“I’m endorsing Jimmy Van Bramer because I know what it takes to work for us here in Queens,” said Congressman Weiner. “Jimmy’s great work for the Queens Libraries and his deep community roots make him an excellent choice for the City Council. I look forward to working with him.”

Jimmy Van Bramer is seeking election in the 26th Council District of Western Queens, which includes Sunnyside, Woodside, Long Island City, Astoria and Maspeth. The General Election is November 3rd. He has been endorsed by The New York Times, the Daily News, Assemblymember Cathy Nolan, the Working Families Party, SEIU 32BJ, the Hotel Trades Council, SEIU Local 1199, New York League of Conservation Voters, League of Humane Voters, CSEA, UAW Region 9A and DC 37, among many other backers.
