On Thursday, December 15th, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer delivered over 1,000 food items to the St. Raphael’s food pantry in Blissville. At the food drop off, the Council Member highlighted rising hunger statistics across the city and in the local community, stressing the need to continue donating to food pantries this holiday season and beyond.

On Wednesday, December 14th, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer hosted a press conference to highlight his legislation that calls for much needed reform to the way the Board of Standards and Appeals issues variances. The legislation would allow for communities and local Council Members to have a greater voice in the process.

COUNCIL MEMBER VAN BRAMER CALLS ON COMMUNITY TO SUPPORT WOODSIDE FIRE VICTIMS
On Monday, December 12th, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer announced a relief drive for the victims of the tragic fire that occurred at 40-38 61st Street, in Woodside on November 18th. The 2-alarm blaze destroyed the two-story house at 40-38 61st Street and significantly damaged the adjacent homes. Tragically, the fire claimed the life of one victim, injured four others and forced the families from their homes. There were 25 people living at the location, including 4 children and babies. With the holidays approaching, Council Member Van Bramer is calling on the community to help these families during their time of need. The Council Member has partnered with the Red Cross and local Pastor Daniel Gilland for a relief drive to aid the victims who lost everything in the fire.

COUNCIL MEMBER VAN BRAMER CELEBRATES VICTORY WITH WOODSIDE HOUSES FAMILY
On December 8th, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer joined Ms. Teresa Mendez in celebrating her newly cleaned, mold-free home in the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) Woodside Houses Development. Not long ago, the same apartment was covered in mold and had become unlivable. After being unable to get results for over a year on her own, Ms. Mendez reached out to the Council Member’s office for help.
