Council Member Van Bramer Meets With Queensbridge Seniors

Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer and his mother were welcomed by seniors and staff at the Queensbridge Senior Center. Van Bramer spoke with seniors over lunch and reviewed improvements to the facility, which included a newly created community garden started by the local seniors.

Van Bramer Throws First Pitch at Long Island City YMCA Youth League

Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer kicked off the first day of the Long Island City YMCA Youth League season at Queensbridge Park. Van Bramer spoke about the importance of kids participating in athletic, educational, and cultural programs that the YMCA provides.

Council Member Van Bramer Visits Big Six Seniors

Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer visited the Self-help Big Six Towers NORC (Naturally Occurring Retirement Community) in Woodside, which offers first rate on-site services to its senior residents. Van Bramer has allocated $10,000 in funding to the Self Help Big Six NORC program, which is vital to transportation services to and from medical and social service programs, as well as Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS) devices. This funding is in addition to the $30 million Van Bramer and the City Council restored for senior services throughout the city.

Sunnyside-Woodside Rezoning Passes

On July 28th, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer and the New York City Council voted to pass the rezoning of Sunnyside and Woodside.  The rezoning will prevent development that is out of character while protecting the low density nature of much of the area.
