COUNCIL MEMBER JIMMY VAN BRAMER DELIVERS THOUSANDS OF DONATIONS FROM FIRE RELIEF DRIVE TO FAMILIES

On Thursday, December 22nd, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer delivered over 3,000 donated items to support victims of the fatal fire that occurred in Woodside on November 18th. The Council Member was joined at his district office by members of the displaced families, local Pastor Daniel Gilland and the Red Cross where the items were distributed amongst the families. These donations of diapers, food, cleaning products, clothing, and toys will help to ease the burden the families have faced since the fire.
The 2-alarm blaze destroyed the 2-story house at 45-38 61st Street and significantly damaged the adjacent homes. Tragically, the fire claimed the life of one victim, injured four others and forced everyone from their homes.
With the holidays approaching, the Council Member called on the community to help these families during their time of need. The community responded extremely generously to help these families get back on their feet.
“In the wake of this tragic event, it is heartwarming to see the community’s response to support their neighbors. The response was more than we could have ever hoped for and I sincerely thank everyone for their tremendous efforts. During this holiday season, these donations will give a little hope back to the families who lost so much in the fire,” said Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer.
