COUNCIL MEMBER VAN BRAMER PARTNERS WITH SANITATION TO BRING MORE SERVICES TO THE AREA

On December 29th, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer joined officials from the Department of Sanitation (DSNY) to announce the placement of 24 new trash baskets and additional street sweeping in Sunnyside, Woodside, and Long Island City. The baskets and additional cleaning arrive after Council Member Van Bramer fought for the DSNY to increase collections throughout District 26.
The trash baskets and additional sweeping will help keep the corridors of 39th Avenue between 48th and 55th Streets, 43rd Avenue between 43rd and 51st Streets and 51st Avenue between 2nd and 5th Streets in Long Island City. The DSNY will collect & monitor the refuse to prevent overflowing. Council Member Van Bramer is continuing efforts to deliver additional garbage cans on Greenpoint Avenue. Furthermore, the DSNY will be at the United Forties Civic Association meeting in January to respond to community concerns.
“These trash baskets and additional street sweeping routes will continue the quality of life improvements that I have fought for since being elected,” said Council Member Van Bramer. “These additions will help keep our neighborhoods clean. And I want to thank DSNY for agreeing to these service enhancements.”
