Majority Leader Van Bramer Launches Back to School Supplies Drive

On Tuesday, August 8th I launched the 8th Annual Back to School Supplies Drive to benefit students in need of supplies for the start of the school year. From August 8th to September 5th, community members will have the opportunity to donate school supplies, like backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, calculators, and rulers, at Majority Leader Van Bramer’s District Office and at five Queens Library drop off locations. The supplies will be distributed to students in need throughout District 26 in Western Queens for the start of the school year on September 7th.

No child should have to go to school without the supplies they need to do their best.  With the upcoming school year fast approaching, many families in our community struggle with the cost of supplies that are required and have to make tough choices that could leave a child without necessarily supplies like notebooks, a backpack, or a calculator. Each and every child deserves to walk into school with the dignity and confidence that comes from a full backpack. So for the 8th year, my office is partnering with the Queens Library to hold a month long supplies drive to ensure all students have the supplies they need from day one. I encourage anyone who can donate supplies to stop by my district office in Sunnyside or one of the five Queens Library locations until September 5th. Your help will make a real difference and give each child in our community the tools to learn, grow, and succeed.
