On September 21st, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer joined Principal Lou Pavone in kicking off the start of school at PS 78’s first PTA meeting of the year.
At the meeting, Van Bramer announced his capital funding allocation of $50,000 for 2011. That same amount was provided last year in 2010. This $100,000 is used to improve technology at the school, including purchasing new desktops, laptops, and smart boards with document cameras. In addition, Van Bramer made a contribution of $250 to the PTA in honor of the late Fausta Ippolito, a beloved community member and parent at PS 78 who lost her life at a young age to cancer this past summer.
Van Bramer has been a long-time advocate for PS 78’s students and programs. The Council Member is always on hand to support the school’s events like the popular annual spring fair at Gantry State Park.
“PS 78 is an incredible school that has made a positive impact on our community’s children. I am proud to be able to support the school’s programs, making sure our kids have an academic experience that is rigorous, enriching and gives them a voice as they make their way in the world. PS 78 shows us all the importance of strengthening our public schools by helping create an environment where students are given the tools to excel,” said Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer.
