On December 2nd, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer visited the staff and students of Evangel Christian School in Dutch Kills, which just celebrated its 25th anniversary. The Council Member toured the campus and met with hundreds of students ranging from pre-K to high school.
On Thursday, December 1st, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer was joined by the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce, State Senator Michael Gianaris, Queen of Angel’s Father Brian Dowd and over 200 community members for a special event kicking off the Second Annual Skillman Avenue Lights.
On December 1st, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer met with third, fourth and fifth grade candidates for student council at P.S. 78. Each candidate presented their own speech and Council Member Van Bramer addressed the candidates and voters (all third, fourth and fifth graders) about the importance of democracy, voting and the political process. On November 30th, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer joined the non-profit arts advocacy organization Fractured Atlas for a question and answer session with local artists at Topaz Arts in Woodside. As Chair of the Cultural Affairs and Libraries Committee, Council Member Van Bramer is a longtime advocate of the arts and has worked to foster an environment in his district and across New York City that both encourages and supports thriving artist communities.
On November 30th, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer joined Assemblymember Michael DenDekker and members of the Wood-Heights Democratic Club for their annual Holiday Party. This year, the club also donated food toward Council Member Van Bramer's Holiday Food Drive, which will be distributed to those in need in the community.
On November 30th, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer address community members and leaders at Central Astoria Local Development Coalition Inc.’s First Annual Community Celebration Dinner at Four-points Sheraton Hotel in Dutch Kills. Council Member Van Bramer supports the work of the organization and allocated $7,000 toward its programs this year.
On November 30th, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer joined Queens Library President and CEO Thomas W. Galante, Brooklyn Public Library President Linda Johnson and John Hyslop, president of DC37, Local 1321 Queens Library Guild, at the Woodside Library to call for increased library card access for New York City youth through the expansion of the Library Card Act.
On November 29th, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer greeted community members and carolers with State Senator Michael Gianaris at the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce’s annual holiday tree lighting in Sabba Park in Sunnyside. The Sunnyside Drum Corp and Long Island City YMCA Carolers set the mood for the event with holiday tunes.

Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer presents a City Council Citation to Police Captain Mark Wachter at the 108th Precinct Community Council meeting in Long Island City on November 29th. Captain Wachter was recently promoted from Lieutenant.
On November 29th, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer joined his Council colleagues in honoring Daniel's Music Foundation at the City Council Stated meeting at Emigrant Savings Bank (pictured here). Also at the Stated Meeting, Council Member Van Bramer voted in favor of a resolution that opposes the Bloomberg Administration's unfair rules that makes it difficult for homeless individuals to enter the city's shelter system.
